3rd, 4th, 5th Feb is my "boys weekend" in Niederau. 10 of us at the moment.
I think Saturday night we might do Hopfgarten or Kitzbühel by cab to shake things up. Depends how good the snow is.....
I was there at the weekend and snowline was at around 1100 metres.
I hope we have a better Winter this year 'cos the last one was a bit pants really. The last proper snow was 26th January and then bugger all after that.

John, your memory is getting really bad. Last winter was never less than fantastic. Think it was end of third week in March til I missed half a day, and that was semi-medical.
Now, where did I leave my rose-coloured specs?......

You are just going to have to buy a snow machine to pump snow onto your new roof! It will add even more insulation!
I drool for your view of the Marbachjoch, old or new snow!

Your always taking a risk in Niederau 1500m tops,
Always better to nip down to Auffach and ski the
Schatzberg, mind you that only peeks at 1900m.Plenty
of high altitude skiing in Austria where you will get good snow from December - April it's just more expensive to stay there. You get what you pay for when you ski and Niederau is great value but you have to keep your fingers crossed at the start and end of the season. One things for sure Austria kicks Frances stinky butt every time.

Agreed Dave, i ski in Dorfgastein reguarly and the village like Niederau is at 800m. It's fine when 20cm has come down overnight and your on that first lift of the day :) but what snow's in better condition at 3pm when it's spring time and 15c,
yep its height, and that thick base layer keeping
the 2000m + snow in good nick. I was in Niederau about 3 years ago,got out there around 21/22 december and it was dumping it down. The nursery slopes where even "powder heaven". Four days later
they could have held "womens mud wrestling" in the same spot(now there an apres ski idea). Now down at Auffach it was beautiful. I know you could argue the point that Niederau is a big learn to ski/family resort hence the nursey getting churned up but Niederau's only black run was rocky from the restaurant (where it meets the blue run) down to the bottom. Now i love skiing in Austria, and for me it's a no brainer to go somewhere that got a high percentage of runs at 1500m minimum. still that's what a forum is for.
Bon Ski ! (sorry for a bit of frog lingo)
