And bet your glad you've gone to St Anton rather than France where officials reckon only 6,000 or so of 35,000 vehicles on their way to the alpine resorts have made it today. The worst transfer day in history, apparently, due to heavy snow and accidents/blockages due to cars without winter tyres and properly-fitted chains.

i had a great morning skiing but packed in at lunch to get over a cold, rather enjoy the whole week feeling fit and not kill myself on the first day.

i chuckled when you mentioned winter tyres/snow chains. I ski as much as i can in Australia during the winter season and always carry chains. I lost count of the number of cars mostly AWD's with their arse poking out of a ditch on the alpine way after fresh snow. Some of these drivers just have no clue and assume AWD means they can drive like its the summer, the highlight was the chap fitting chains to the front of his real wheel drive car at the bottom of the hill.

Had just an epic Day in St Anton today, stuck to the Rendl side again as it seems to be ignored by many but the conditions were sensational. it was also quiet as i suspect many were nursing hangovers, no lift queues, empty runs and pristine snow, i could not ask for a better start to the year

Not sure this high altitude rain will have helped any resort in Alps. Hopefully the dusting tomorrow will repair some of damage.

Hello, is the snow not looking good I'm planning on going to Austria in February. Kind regards Chris.

Some decent rumbles as they secure slopes above valley in Chamonix. Webcams seem to concur that we had a lot above 2000m. I think if you go high could be a good powder day.

Just got back from Saalbach last weekend. Loads of snow and great conditions. Snow god came through just before we got there. Hopefully snow is here to stay in European resorts for rest of season now, although they do seem to be getting some yo yo temps.
Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

I hope this is the case. Mates of mine are currently in Serre Che and ADH respectively and tell me the snow there is dreadful.
I'm off to St Moritz Sunday, snow there is already great, plus low temps, plus 50cm falling Saturday, and 3 more days of snow after that.....thats called getting lucky I guess.
