Hello everyone, so next year I am going skiing and this Christmas I think I will be getting a Go-Pro camera. It will be my first time skiing and I may go in the future but I just wondered about what Go-Pro equipment to get so here are the details.
Camera: Hero 3+
Filming Requirements: Good views combined with me skiing.
Current Skiing Equipment: I will be hiring a helmet so just wondered about how easy an adhesive mount would be to get off to move around. I will also be hiring skis.
Thank you

Helmet mount is pretty much on once its on, not recommended to put on a rented helmet. Think about buying your own anyway, you need one that fits you properly and in addition - do you really want to be wearing one thats got other people sweat and all sorts mashed into the inside?
Get the helmet before you go, play with getting the right position for the camera - sounds simple but you will end up with either too much sky or too much in front of you without trying angles out. I also use a chest harness from GoPro, gets a better angle but can be a little unstable if you are riding bumps or crap groomed pistes!

The problem is battery ..so if you're not going to use the wireless connection and you're not interested in 1080 60fps i would buy the basic Go Pro Hero ,still does 1080 but in 30 fps , 720 60fps but the battery will last twice as long . This year the dude with the go pro hero recorded more footage then the rest of us (5)put together , most of us have now sold our go pro 3'S and have the hero ,
It is cool having the lcd screen on the back but it really eats into your battery time .

Got to agree with the above. I have the 3+ - if you want to use wifi take about 4 batteries for the day!!
I bought the lcd screen for mine in the summer, can't see why you would want it skiing though
If you put a sticky pad on a helmet, getting it off will be 'challenging'
Get a chest harness, much more flexible and you can give to someone else to wear to film you - bit difficult with a helmet!!
Consider what you will do with footage - take laptop to download to every day?

Yes, battery drains quickly. Get a pebble from sports pursuit on offer, and charge up over lunch. Don't bother with wifi, its all a bit of a gimmick.

Or 2 spare batteries and charger from Amazon for £20 - can charge 3 batteries at a time.
