Livigno.......any good ?

I have to agree with that. I was in Livigno earlier this year (last Ski season) and I waited till I went because I wanted a new camera. :( The one I wanted was actually quite a bit dearer than back at home, so I ended up not bothering.

The good news is that I have just purchased one for the coming season, and by waiting most of the year I have saved another £100.00 :D

Yep spot on, I'm sure there are bargains to be had but I think you have to go prepared with prices from the UK

cheers-i have looked at 3 different ones from uk sites (play.com etc) and the fuji one is only 95 so tempted to just order that-unfortunately they dont deliver to italy!!

mind you if the canon or lumix panasonic ones are less than 165 ill be getting those-12x optical will make the mountains even closer!!

booze was SUPER cheap though.....

FYI, I purchased a Panasonic TZ7 three weeks ago, and got Dixons (or whatever they are now called) to match an online competitor price of £210 in my local store.

This camera was over £350 last March in Livigno, with prices back home running at £310-£320.

thats the one i was looking at-does HD movies and zoom during movies is it decent? either that or the canon powersot one which is simialr

depends if my insurance pays out for my broken one!! thinking i should just splash... the panasonic one is 195 now online-canon is 165

Apologies too Mr Admin, but to answer the question, so far I am very happy with it. It is a bit too early to have had lots of use, but the pics I have snapped seem to be very good. Also, it has a brilliant closeup (not sure if it is officially a macro). I may have to try taking shots of individual snowflakes later :lol:

I have not yet shot any video footage.

Hi All, Thanks for the replys to now; still have this resort on a 'maybe' but also wondering how it compares to Passo Tonale?
Any one out there been to both that can offer an opinion?

Bloody blimey the two resorts do not compare if you are any more experienced than about two /three years then you will find Passo really boring ski wise,don't get me wrong it was ok I skied a lot of the time in Ponti legno where the skiing was a little more interesting, look at the web cams the pistes are really just up and down, I'd pick Livigno every time and that belive it or not is an unbiased opinion. 8)

I was in Livigno last week and really liked the place. It is not massive, you can ski it in 2/3 days. But all the pistes are nice, wide and steep enough for some good cruising.
Lifts are modern but I would be carefull with location. The village is very wide and it can be painful to walk at night with -25 outside ;).
Nightlife is good but spread out. Better to stick to one bar.
On the mountain best restaurant is on top of chair 1 in Mottolino. Beautiful and sunny with some good music and views.
Best runs: under Mottolino gondola, under Carosello II gondola, Fedeira chair and chair no 19.
