Carol, its all about timing and flexibility to be honest. Most of my ski trips have been week long packages through UK based operators such as Skiworld, First Choice, Neilson, and Inghams. I have also used www.catered-ski-chalets.co.uk who can book you accommodation only in chalets.

If you are a skier/boarder, St Anton.

Have twice been in Zell. It is a bit like being a ladies underwear salesman.

I've been to both resorts and whilst in Zell also skied the glacier at Kaprun.

Zell is o.k for sure - a reasonable amount of skiing and well serviced by buses and lifts. Definitely not extensive though. The glacier can be very bleak and is not at all attractive, but of course has excellent snow.takes a bit of time to get to if you're based in Zell (bus/gondola/another gondola). Zell has a huge amount of nightlife which would be a plus for you.

St. Anton has vast skiing possibilities and also excellent nightlife, but it is expensive. However, that wouldn't prevent me from recommending it, as its one of the "must do at least once" resorts in my opinion.

Hope this helps and enjoy whichever you plump for.

Hopefully Make it to St Anton in March 2010, but before that I'll be back in Zell twice before then (that makes it about the 13th/14th time).

It's not the most extensive or challenging, but with a lively group looking for a good time with a fair bit of milage and some interesting runs, huttes - and bars after, at a fair price - we've never been let down.

If you're looking for plenty of challenging skiing there is little on earth to rival St Anton.
