You would definitely need a guide then unless are super comfortable in mountains and were part of similar team. Helbronner is 3400m and this year you would probably want to catch train back to town around 1900m. Would be a good 10km + run with 2 x really nice pitches at top.

Pila and La Thuile were good. Some nice "just off the piste" to be had at Pila.
You get 2 days at other Aosta resorts on the Courmayeur local pass. If going to more than two check day pass prices and use your two inclusive at the more expensive resorts. Pila day pass is dearer than La Thuile, for example.

Gary, I don't know as when I was there in December the route was not possible due to conditions, but going by this http://www.j2ski.com/ski_resorts/Italy/Courmayeur.html it looks like lift up to where you would start the route is covered. I guess bus back to Courmayeur is an extra and for this route a mountain guide is advised. Enjoy, as I here it is a spectacular ski of 4-5hrs

Thank you all for responding. We are all strong intermediates and do hope to ski the VB from the Courmayeur side. Any updates or advice (guide recommendation please) would be greatly appreciated. There are 4 of us. Also looking for any off-piste recommendation at Courmayeur.
Thanks again!
