What's the distances to piste in lifer? Is it possible to get ski in out? We are taking 6 kids and don't want hassle of driving or bussing to the slopes. So much easier?

You're right though, you can't do anything about it, but you can reduce the risk of no snow or not being able to ski as much as you would like,

You still cannot beat the hospitality of the Austrians over the French. I would prefer to take the risk and have a great hol tbh!! Venn to this region some 6-7 times over the last 4 yrs and Always had great snow.

Nothing wrong with the snow in France. The last resort we went to was Tignes with allyG s group. Great conditions. I just prefer a more rounded trip where it's great boarding (which I've always had in Austria) and also a little character and a little courtesy/tidy service which the latter , I found, was lacking in France. Not including the chalet in that. They were great, but all British and NZ staff. Like u say, whatever floats my boat. Will I go to France again, definitely yes but ill probably frequent Austria more. Chile is my next stop inaugurated anyway. Hopefully a little charm there. ;)

I can understand that but the service issue applies to every countries resorts especially tignes, cham,in France where they do not have to work to hard for their Euro.
I have never skied in those resorts but what I can tell you is that the French resorts that I have skied have been polite and courteous and the service has been great and majority of the time you are served with a smile.
So it is down to resort selection but the choice is always up to the individual, enjoy your boarding which ever country you choose. :thumbup

Just forgot one interestng thing: how quickly it has become strange and unusual to see people smoking in bars. Never really a problem for me, but might cause some distress to others.
