Absolutely no issues today. The t&c state genuine sporting goods....as far as I'm concerned that's ski socks and the lot.

No sarcasm intended - what else would I put in there?

Skis only, or so most airlines specify.
You just have to act dumb and ram it full of 'padding'

and there in lies the problem - I do not have a "ski bag". Just hold luggage. So the reason your bag rarely exceeds 15KG is because you put your straighteners in with your skis?

My checked bag, including boots, usually weighs 18-19kg and my ski bag weighs 13-14kg which is packed with ski clothing, several pairs of shoes, and other things like extension leads.
Having a ski bag to check in not only gives you the advantage of taking your own ski but also of taking more stuff.
Without that, I'd struggle with 20kg in one bag tbh.

Same here Tony_H, our suitcases were 18kg and 19kg respectively last month, my boots in one, hubbies board bindings in another. His boots, trousers, both our jackets and one or two other things in the board bag, "under" jackets, couple of hoodies, my trousers padded out my ski bag.

I'm sure if we had to get all that in just suitcases we'd be over the limit, and it's not like we're taking unnecessary stuff. Wear one pair of jeans, take another, wear the boots/shoes you intend to wear in the evenings. Very easy to get to 20kg.
Up there for thinking, down there for skiing...
