Ski Bindings New & Old

Hi Alistair,
Well, at least it will give you something to do whilst you're waiting for the start of the next European ski season
Best of luck with the skip/charity shop/carboot sale search :D
I'm sure you're already keeping an eye on eBay :D

Oh yes, you can read my mind Ally, Ebay is within my ever expanding remit.
I think if Alistair could buy the Phantoms, binding price would not be an issue  But for me with three P02s to put bindings on, it was. The Delta is a problem. I ended up using 5mm of lift under the toe pieces of the 171s, and 3mm on the 163s. In terms of use, I have been pleased with the performance. I use a DIN of 7/8 for the type of skiing I do, and have had no pre-releases. I like to find any small rise that will allow me to transition in the air, and land on the new edges. The Tyrolias haven't let me down doing this, but different neox bindings prereleased occasionally. They have released in a couple of tumbling falls, when I was hoping they would. Overall they've worked well for me.
That has to be the biggest angle I've seen  Anyone for skiing on tiptoe!

Ally and Ian, yes a good shout, I'm just wondering if I will get a little skiing in between charity shops, car boot sales and skip hunting. Can you imagine the interview for Ski & Snowboard, Was it a good season? Yes it was a vintage one, skip find one, a pair of Head 165cm circa 1972, Charity shop find two, a pair of leather bindings complete with rivets and lovely buckles
I just love the gravitational pull

Its not going to be easy to find a pair of these in the UK especially in black, they were discontinued after only 1 season (08/09). It's very much a low end binding, aimed at beginners / low intermediates. The toe piece has very little elastic travel, the heal piece is a simple up an out one rather than the diagonal release one used on the better models and it also has a substantial 7mm delta. Your not seriously thinking of mounting them on a pair of Phantoms are you?

Alistair,
Edge to Edge are selling off their old ski hire gear. Maybe they've got something that would do, for your mysterious and amusing project?

Phantoms, I should be so lucky  I am looking for a cost effective binding to fit a 13 SLR carve plate. Cost effective being the word. Research has indicated that the plate is compatible with the Following Bindings from the Tyrolia/Head stable:
Free Flex Pro 11, 15, 17, 18
Peak 18 X, 15, 12, 11
LD 12
SL 70 AC, SL 100, SL 110 Carve ABS
SP 130 ABS Demo Aero
SP 120 ABS, 100 ABS, 90 ABS, 75 ABS
I am just trying to find the best value for an Inter/advanced skier 5'11" 12.5 stone who likes recreational carving.
