We are planning to take a trip to Austria in 2012-2013. We plan to ski/snowboard right before Christmas. The adults are skiers and the kids (12 and 16 then) are snowboarders. We are high beginners/intermediate skiers/boarders and are looking for an area with mostly these types of runs. Somewhere that will have snow at that time of year, family friendly night activities and accomodations within walking distance of the lift. We will be coming from Munich so somewhat close to that city would be helpful. We have skied at Big Sky, Montana and enjoyed it because there were rarely lines at the lifts and few people on the runs at the same time.

Thank you for your help.

Doesn't fit the criteria, they want lots of pistes and variety.

Kitzbuhel is only around 130km from Munich

Its a lovely town with lots to do off the slopes as well as a good range of reds and blues and so meets all of your criteris

EXCEPT

Kitz is not very high so snow at Christmas may be in short supply - that said Austria had the best of the early season snow last year so you never can tell

I would do Ischgl. Love that place. Zell am See also a fair call or anywhere on the Saalbach-Hinterglimm circuit.
