Sadly - the event this weekend (3rd March) is now announced as cancelled.
It needs a clear sky to work, and the forecast is for snow and cloudy, so the skiing element is cancelled. Still quite a good party atmosphere in town though. Details at https://www.laclusaz.com/hiver/full-moon-1-1-1.html |
The blue run down to the village (Guy Perillat) is still just open
For a daily check of whats open and skiing - check out http://www.skiinfo.fr/external/swc_detail.jsp?product.skiinfo.DESTID=EFRCLUSAZ&USERLANG=fr Its 16 degrees out here in La Clusaz now so only a matter of time before a few more parts close - but should be OK for the weekend. |
La Balme sector is all still open and skiing very well - and has recent top ups of fresh snow (above 1900m mid station). Aguille and Cret de Loup also all open and a good enough coverage. The links and runs back down to the village are still open (just) but they are sketchy in places and suffering.... You will be able to ski, and Balme has some good conditions... just a shame that with this bizarre season you won't get to enoy the full extent of the resort!

Hello
Post lunch update...and thanks for all the help and suggestions. Chalet Les Arcs was chosen and turned out to be very good. They were very helpful in the reservation process and clearly used to working with groups. Easy access for all levels of skiers, but also still on the mountain with good views. We waited about 15 minutes for service when we got there (dying of thirst!) but as soon as we found the right waitress it all happened smoothly and was good food. We were on the second service at 1400 and by that time they had run out of 'plat du jour' and 'dessert de jour'. Good tartiflette though… So a thumbs up for Chalet Les Arcs at Arcs 2000… good for groups! Cheers, Paul |
Hi there
Looking for any advice on a good mountain restaurant in Les Arcs - probably nearer the 1950 and 2000 side, rather than the 1600/1800 side. Its for a group of around 18 people for lunch and so want to try and find somewhere where the service is good, nice views, ease of access (mixed ski ability group) and its not too busy... Obviously would like good food but does not need to be too flash or too pricey! Any suggestions would be very welcome.. Thanks Paul |
Hi there
I have been living in La Clusaz for the past 9 years and can say that if the snow is a problem here, then its going to be a problem in many other resorts across the alps! True the village is only 1100m but the run down to the centre of the village is open right through the season and into April - they have a good network of snow cannons and are regularly investing to improve this. Same in Grand Bornand where this year they are extending the snow-cannoning along the whole run to the village and so (fingers crossed) it should be open right through the season. The resorts are pretty quiet, and they manage & groom the pistes very well which helps keep the snow in excellent condition and ensures that all the runs are available. The highest runs at La Balme are mainly reds but here you can ski up to 2500m on north facing slopes - and this sector could be skied into May (they close on 25th April) As with any resort - you can be lucky and have fresh snow and blue skies on your holiday or it could be damp and grey... but I think La Clusaz & Grand Bornand do very well for snow! There's always been plenty for me and all our guests... |
