Find a private teacher, and have a couple of lessons. They'll take the skills you have learned for yourself and provide the key to the rest. Otherwise you are missing out. I did have snowboarding lessons, and did'nt take to it, but could, when I quit, ride both ways, do linked turns, toe edge turns, heel edge turns and garland's. It was stuff to build on. I went back to 2 planks, it felt more natural :D

Sweet Torture: Electro shocks

Yes, some very far reaching claims made on that site. I don't endorse any of them. I have experienced treatment from a physiotherapist using this system. I agree, it's pretty weird watching muscles fire by themselves. Too high a current may shock the muscle, affect the nerves and be counterproductive :-)

Painful feet advice
Started by User in Ski Hardware, 28 Replies
Painful feet can ruin your ski holiday. The good news is that ski boots are now much more comfy than 10 years ago IMV. Boot fitting is now much more sophisticated, and the challenge you now face is to find a really good fitter, who understands what caused your problems in the past, and can provide the support for your feet in the boots. Your old boots are most likely to be scrap so be prepared to buy new ones. You will benefit from getting a fitting, then trying the boots out at Castleford, and then going back to the fitter for fine turning.

If travelling from the UK, these folks are offering the Swiss Transfer Ticket which will get you to/from your resort for £51.

You must get it before you travel though!

Of course I've never heard of that :D that's 120.- chf which sounds a good deal to me. I have a demi-tariff and Mrs Ise has a General Abonnement so we're paying, or not paying, less than that anyway.

I'll suggest that next time we've some visitors.

:D
I have just priced up the return ticket via Bern at CHF149.60 2nd class on sbb.ch So, buying the Swiss Transfer Ticket in advance would save john101 some money, unless he is part of a large group. He needs to do his sums before he decides :D

There's an art to finding a ski, partly from being able to gauge on any surface where it might have gone but also being disciplined in looking for it. The first thing I do is mark the point where I parted company from the ski using a pole, the other ski or an avalanche probe. Then I use either a probe or the other ski to probe the snow for the ski. I generally don't get split very far from skis though and I try to avoid falling at all on steep/deep slopes.

The other thing to do is make the DIN is set right, there's three basic settings. 1. So high the ski never comes off, 2. just right and 3. the self-righteous git level where the ski will fly off and hit someone else :D

Sound advice ise. If I do fall on a steep slope I try and make sure I'm in the company of someone who is good at finding lost skis, and has all the necessary search skills and kit listed here :D
If I look distressed enough, they'll most likely climb back up the slope to do the search too :D

And leash or tags? Neither!
EB's are listing a shop in Fort William...

I know nothing about their reputation as skiboot fitters.
