Zermatt 7-10th November Wonderful Snow

Yes Ross, well spotted, a rather neat single set of tracks too 8)

Rose, that's us both getting lost in the car park then! If we get to ski together we'll need to take ise with us as he can do navigation quite well )

Daved, thanks :D BTW the new snowmaking machine up at Trockener Steg is paying dividends AFAICS. The snow base is pretty deep, and there is plenty of terrain to explore. I saw snow cannons working below T.S, and by the time you arrive the runs down to Furi should be ready.
The very top station of the Klein Matterhorn is still a building site, with the new entrance to the Glacier Palace and the new restaurant still under construction. The run down is still breathtaking though...as you would expect at 3800m :D
The snow quality was wonderful, dry and slightly squeaky. The sort of powder that I ski on in my dreams :D

Thanks Rose :D Yes, you are quite correct, Zermatt is dominated by the Matterhorn. Despite having several mountains surrounding the resort, it's the most recognisable peak.
I read somewhere that the shape was the inspiration for Toblerone :D

I have been out in Zermatt for the Swiss Ski Test. Conditions from Trockener Steg upwards were very good. I did see some folks skiing down towards Furi, but it was a bit thin underfoot, and officially closed.

The resort was very busy at the weekend, and there was quite a crush for the cable cars.
Some more photos on my picasa page http://picasaweb.google.com/bandit2106/ZermattNov08# and a trip report with photos on my blog :D

Now, for absolutely no prizes whatsoever....Name the mountain in the top photo )
cheapest lift pass for La Plagne????

If La Plagne is shut because of lack of snow, most resorts will be closed in Europe, they only stopped summer skiing on Bellecote recently.
On arrival in Belle Plagne last time I was there, the apartment co. offered me a discount on the ticket window price, so it's not true that you need to live there.

Could anyone let me know if they have used this company before and if so good experiences or bad.

Many thanks.

I have used this co. on several occasions to buy Swiss Transfer Tickets. I have had reliable prompt service.
As I'm in a large Swiss ski resort right now, it seems relevant to mention that every ski shop that I look in has custom foamed boot liners on display in the window. One for Trencher to try at home, but only if he'll let me watch :D

Maybe I'm a little tired from skiing hard today, but I'm not sure of the point you are making here. Could you expand a little.

I may have misunderstood but I *thought* you were making a point about levels of expertise and consulting those experts. Dentists are hugely qualified and there's a high entrance requirement, that mechanic at the dealer will probably have City and Guilds Level 1 and 2 and that'll take a few hundred hours training over about three years before some ongoing professional development.

Actually, no I was making an entirely different point. My point was that I would not fill my own teeth, (ugh) or fit new tyres to my own car, so why on earth would I feel suitably equipped to deal with the bio-mechanics of the foot, and it's functional relationship to a ski boot. I have a qualification in Anat & Phys, and there is just too much to go wrong, it's not worth it, my feet are very sensitive.

We do higher prescriptions from our shop but feel we shouldn't go higher on internet site as its best to gte fitted if your prescription high.

I've looked at your blog, good pics :D

Thanks for checking out my blog, glad you like the photos :D, It's always useful to know that there is a way to get higher index lenses into (some) sports shades.

More photos in my blog soon, I'm currently in Zermatt :D

Ooh, does that count as a shameless plug
