And you are required to have a transceiver for any Serre Chevalier area where you go off piste, whether the 'more welcoming' off piste areas of Briancon or these intimidating areas which run for miles and miles at Monetier. (Not just a 'reflector' - it's not enough).

Would you mind quoting, or linking to the local Ordnance that specifies this requirement.

Thanks
:D

Pricey though.....

Get some off the bay for about 250ish. I used 170s in Fernie and loved em - very fast and responsive, had 163s last year (experimenting) although they were good, they were not as good as 170s.

Yes...but which Monsters, as they come in a number of widths, some are flat, some have rail bindings.......

Ross, just get a stronger set of springs and a marker pen to change the numbers, we won't grass on you to your fellow maggots.....

Are you serious - a pair of skis is likely to weight more than 6kg on their own I would imagine

Yes, utterly and absolutely serious. I have one pair of skis that will meet this limitation, without poles or bag

Okay, I went away and did some searching. Here's a page from Thomson ski, about one third of the way down.....

NB Ski and snowboard bags must contain skis and snowboards ONLY and should weigh no more than 6 kgs.

Neilson offer 10kg currently. Which is probably less than a pair of Metrons?

You need this bandit...

There is something a bit unpleasant about the image on those T's.

Ross, if you have been swimming in the TGR cesspool, I'm not surprised you feel the need to have fat skis

But back on thread... my top bit of kit I reckon is the Sportube - no worries about skis getting baggage-mangled, fitted with wheels and a grt big handle that make it easy to carry and trundle around airports... top.

So true, however they are quite heavy, and some un-enlightened airlines/ Tour Ops are putting a weight restriction on ski bags. In some cases an unrealistic 6kg

I had a Sportube, but I sold it, as all my skis were too fat to fit.

How's my Steeze doing :D

Decent socks are vital and worth spending a bit on imho. Don't anybody, ever, bother with the foot and blister hell that is the tube sock.

I'm with the sock people.

I'm due for some new ones as I wear them all year round (my comfort blanket) and they're wearing a bit thin. I absolutely love my salomons (they've got falke sk1w written on the bottom). Does anyone have a good suggestion for what to replace them with?

sorry ise, off thread.

Caron, you can buy them as Falke socks.... :D

This is a retailer I have used in the past, and they have been fine.

Only since the city boys moved in! :( I spent 8 winters in Verbier and went back last April after a 6 year absence. Talk about a town losing its soul.

City boys, you mean bankers, lawyers and the like, so you could say it has gained lots of ****souls
:D

Not so many 'bankers' there this year....

Is that the crunch of fresh snow, under foot I hear - or the financial meltdown of Canary Wharf???????

Who knows, Verbier may yet return to being known solely as a good ski resort. It was Verbier that named a chairlift after singer James Blunt, so, a little way to go on the road to recovery
