Sad news and in need of advice

David, it's sad that you have lost your hols which you had planned for a long time, but good news that your OH will be fine. Dry slopes do get more than their fair share of accidents, mostly it's broken thumbs (yup me too).

Many years ago I was packing ready for a ski trip when my OH phoned me and said "How would you feel if I said I couldn't go"...so I say, "I'd go without you".... then he sounded really glum. He'd gone and got his hand crushed under a forklift truck forks (don't ask). It was broken, hugely swollen, (apart from the bolt hole) and he skied 5 weeks later on a late booking, which we booked on the day he got clearance from the hospital :D

All you now have to do is convince your OH to give skiing another try :D

No, after next weekend Zinal stays open and the rest of the Anniviers opens on the 20th. All open next weekend with the possible exception of Vercorin where I've no idea.

Bugger  Did you skin up today?

They have opened up later this year. This date last year I was skiing Zinal.

Vercorin was open at the weekend.

Which is all fine and theoretical. However out in the real world, "other people" can be pretty reckless.

I know you've been hit by someone but you know I'm going to quote accident statistics that show your chances of being of hit by someone skiing are really remote.

Good advice to help people get past if they're too close though.

Well, I have also been hit from behind big time in L2A, on the black run to the "Village" complex. Proper yard sale, and gouges across the back of my K2's right behind the rear bindings.
My OH thinks that I'm a prat magnet, and I suppose that screws up your statistics

Still, statistically, if you ski with me, you will be less likely to get the eejits heading for you

In the meantime, I plan on checking out this rather interesting addition to the "skiing opportunities" available in Dublin:

I had a look into the centre and it looks pretty cool - they claim that it very good for perfecting technique, while not having to spend ages going up a drag for a short run down a dry slope is a definite plus :D

The two skiing Directors named on the site are Ian and Jane McGarry who have been in the industry a long time and used to run a chalet in Chatel teaching skiers.
