Yes, that's correct. In this instance, add in, very low temps for a few weeks before, a very dry snowpack which has not bonded, and a swift rise in temperatures (the spike) and the result is plenty of instability. Normally, a gentle rise in temps, cause a bit of percolation in the layers, and they then "fuse" (I think). )

Hi PAUL CNG Welcome to J2ski. Your condition sounds painful  full credit to you for keeping going with your skiing. As a total amateur it seems to me that your boots need to be set up to mimic a forward lean position, whilst still leaving you upright. Hopefully CEM will be along soon to give an expert's view on the bootfitting stuff. I'll leave the skiing stuff to other J2skier's to contemplate.

What led to you getting your diagnosis?

Shorter skis

Different strokes for different folks. My own skis measure 158, 163 and 172. I'm 164 (5'4) tall and 65 kg. My shortest pair have the biggest turn radius at 17.1 metres, but will still make these shorter turns!

Your body weight will play a part in your ski choice.

We were just over in Vercorin and you can see it from there, that photo' doesn't quite show how steep that bit is actually.

The slide area must be bigger than it looks. From the image, it looks quite compact, but if it is visible across the valley it must be pretty substantial.

Yes, I recall that particular drag lift having some rather interesting sections!
The Car Hire Company desks were in the usual place on Thursday 18th. The airport must have moved them since, and I have no idea where the Post Office is

Local newspaper www.lenouvelliste.ch carries this photo of the avalanche. This is the image from the local police by the look of it. Link supplied earlier by ise.

The article reports that they are two 15 year olds, and one is in a critical condition.

You can see the drag lift pylons at the top of the image.
