Minus forty-seven???

I arrive tomorrow afternoon.

AFAIR you're a Scots/Geordie, so unless you go out in your T shirt, it will be a doddle )

I'll put my mini-skirt and a boob-tube on as it does seem a little warm )

This thread is nothing without PICTURES :D

It's brilliant 8) You'll have to look after it and make sure it lasts for the season.

You could add rooms, lighting, a bar......

I'll be round to sit in your igloo quite soon :D
Weekend Skiing!

I booked a long weekend to Engelberg in Switzerland a couple of winters ago. Booked everything separately, and found an apartment through Interhome for a short stay.
Flight to Zurich, car hire, couple of hours drive, and good pre-Christmas skiing. The resort is also accessible by train direct from Zurich airport.

dianep Well done, talk about in at the deep end :D With the knowledge you now have, future trips will be much easier to plan. You were fortunate that your dodgy boots got picked up quite quickly, that was a good ski school mgr.
I have used Interhome over many years, and they have always provided a good service. Shame about the flu though :(

If you were the parent of a teenager who was a good skier. Sure, you would ask them not to take risks...but for Christmas, along with the nice new PE's/Armada's/Scratch BC's etc you could make sure that they stood a chance of surviving, ...if they made a bad call, by buying them a transceiver, shovel and probe for starters.

Neither child was equipped for being off piste. Everyone can make a bad call on the hill, some will survive because they improve the odds.

I will say no more on this topic.

RossF wrote:bandit, IMO that is ridiculous. I believe strongly in holding people accountable if they are actually responsible but in this situation even had they been educated properly they might have done it. Old, educated people duck ropes too.

I know for sure that my mum often asks me not to do stuff, or explains why it may be dangerous but I do it anyways.. all about growing up. For sure I would not want my mum to be held accountable for my stupidity.

I am certain others will agree with me in this view, even some of you older dudes

Really, these were children, 15 years old

How old do you need to be to go on Avalanche Awareness training?

Or wear a Transceiver?

If they had fallen off the drag lift, they would have had few choices. The other teen will be able to explain the details, and until the police have finished their investigation and released their report, we can only speculate that either boy intended to ski that slope.

It's now reported they were skiing the slope.

Then, as they were minors, their parents should take some responsibility for failure to equip them, and failing to educate their children to behave responsibly when away from their parents.
