Quite correct Tony :D Today was utterly amazing. Deep powder everywhere, and the bonus was that the snow had dried out overnight, so it was light and fluffy, and then the sun came out! OH still managed to hit a rock though  Shop repair time I'm afraid...

Spent most of the day off piste in knee deep snow, with the occasional  when falling into a waist deep hole.

Anyone heading out soon will have a great time :D

Not seen ise anywhere yet, but the folks we were with today, saw him yesterday in a restaurant
chamonix - which lift pass

bellfi wrote:Hi

My husband and 2 children ages 9 and 12 are going to chamonix next month, not sure which lift pass we should get:

Chamonix Le Pass or The Mont Blanc unlimited.

The children have been round the Sella Ronda no problems last year which was great, but have heard Chamonix has some very steep runs, and is not very suited for families, with my youngest child being with us I am looking for more leisurely skiing rather than challenging skiing .

Any advice would be apprecitated.

Thanks

The Chamonix Pass would suit you if you plan to stay in the valley. However, if you wish to ski Les Houches, you may wish to buy a day ticket whilst there. Les Houches has the most tree lined skiing in the area, and is great if the weather is snowy. Due to political argy bargy between the ski areas this winter, the Les Houches area is not properly included on the Mont Blanc or the Chamonix Pass
Within Chamonix the most gentle runs are found at Le Tour, beyond Argentiere.

Out on my new Punishers today, plenty of pow, though the snow felt a little heavy. We were still in freshies at 3pm :D

lost skis!! warning and advice needed

Daved I'm sorry you lost your kit, and agree with your suggestions about making your bag unique. I believe that there is a problem at GVA as I have seen some travellers opening ski bags to see what is inside, ie: not looking at the label or tags. I generally leave my luggage to circulate and wait for the skis to come out. I have a Stockli bag, to contain (oddly enough) Stockli skis, and one one trip, I was grabbing my ski bag at GVA and a woman said to me "Oooh Stocklis, I could have had them". I have no idea if she was joking or not
New boots

smirnoff_skier wrote:I have also bought the Impact 8's at the start of the season and have to agree that they are brilliant. I went from a pair of Atomic M Tech 110s into these and even for racing the flex is just about right for my level and use on the dryslopes.

Having said that, after 4 hours of racing a week since October and 2 weeks on the snow, the shin padding seems to have packed down a little more than I was expecting and I am having to adjust the straps more and more. Anyone else had similar issues?

I was in the shop for about 3 hours trying on different boots and sizes so they are defiantely not too big (like Tony, these are actually a few sizes smaller than the Atomics I bought off the shelf).

I dont want to turn it into a situation where the more I tighten the buckles, the more packed it gets so the more I tighten the buckles. Having only bought them at the start of the season, and with a lot more dryslope use and another 2 weeks on snow to come this season, I am not quite sure what to do. Any suggestions?

Invest in some Zipfit liners, and you can move them to your next pair of boots. They should last you through 2 shells worth of use.
