Someone was telling me yesterday that most of next years slalom skis will have early rise tip, so that's not the exception any more.

I'll ski any red comfortably and take easy blacks too. I'd like to say that I'm competent all over the park but that'd be a bare faced lie!

Then I would guess (assuming that you don't weigh 16 stone) 130 is too stiff.

With respect i don't think that is the point.

The key point here is safety. He doesn't need to know how much skiing she has under her belt, that is irrelevant. The important thing here is that he could see she was too small to reach the safety bar.

Children are to young and often too fearless to make their own decisions.

I agree there should be better safety for younger children, but I see a lot of kids younger than ten riding lifts on their own all the time. Junior race teams would not exist if young kids could not ride the lifts on their own. The problem is more about chair design. should the safety bar have had straps on it to allow kids to reach it?
I don't think there is anything wrong with buying used boots in good condition, if they are a good fit/the right flex. The thermofit liners can be heated and remolded.

130 is a stiff boot flex, are you man enough :D

As far as getting them fitted, it all depends on the boots being right for you. You may be throwing good money after bad.

Yes, it's pretty common in the US for people ride up with the bar up (sorta like not wearing a helmet in Europe) At the hundreds of small ski areas where the lifts seldom get more than twenty feet from the deck, it is common for there to be no safety bar on the chairs. Never heard of people worrying about getting stuck with the bar down.

dont mention the H word.....

but seriously - if its common for people not to put bars down then that may have been a factor in this incident?

That's likely

Should I go see a different fitter - maybe in resort?

Should be able to rule that out then.

So are you wedging a little bit and riding the inside edge of both skis?
