In a word, yes. The snows may arrive anytime from now until mid-January and it'll be nothing unusual. Historically Xmas is not guaranteed to be very snowy - though, with the exception of last season, it has been in recent years. As for this year... who knows? But... though it's mild in the Alps right now, that should give way to much colder temperatures around the middle of next week - with a good chance of a little snow too. Still early days yet, so keep an eye on the forecasts and keep your fingers crossed. Where are you going? |
Unless we're in for another late start to the season, November on the Grande Motte is likely to be cold. The other possibility is that it will be C-O-L-D. Go for a cold wax, and pay attention to your clothing as much as your skis... 8)
The upper runs (anywhere above the funicular top station / restaurant) are very exposed to any wind that may be blowing. With luck the run down to Val Claret will be open by then though, and that's more sheltered. From the latest GFS data; looks like a cold few days for the end of this month, then average temperatures (for the time of year) in the first week of November. After that... looks a fair bit colder and maybe a wee bit of precipitation too... |
Bump... couple of pairs left; Weekday tickets but can be upgraded to Weekend for £4 - PM me before Thursday 08:00 if you want a pair.

He he, this is work... ...though we don't often have time to chat... Helmet? Yep, but not all the time. As light as a hat and probably warmer so goes on by default now - but I'll leave it if the snow is deep, the sun is out, the runs are quiet and we're not heading anywhere adventurous. |
  ...I thought about it... confucius say "kung-fu-dog-in-a-dressing-gown maybe not best dressed for alpine blizzard" |
Shoulda said... one pair per household, etc.
Still eight pairs left... |
They've arrived a little late for us to run our customary competition, but we now have a dozen pairs of Weekday Tickets to give away for the Metro Ski Show, being held this week at London Olympia (Grand Hall).
These Weekday Tickets are valid for Wednesday 24th October (this Wednesday) through Friday 26th (opening times are 11am to 9:30pm). So, what you need to do is this... Send a Private Message (PM) to me (Admin) with your name and address and we'll get these in the post to you today. Be quick - they won't last... |
