Welcome home, Pav - you know where you belong... ) )
After a week of something approaching chaos in most of the forecast models, GFS at least is settling down.

Looks like seasonally cold weather for most of this month with all the model runs converging on some good precipitation about a week out.

Check the dip in temperature and the spike in precipitation, on almost all models, for the 12th Jan.

See the GFS Ensemble here

Worth watching this one and checking flight availability if you fancy a long weekend in mid-Jan!

Jolly good - that's two of the usual suspects...

Pavelski?
Trencher? (no excuses, we know the DNS has crossed the Atlantic already)
Jan? (note from his Mum says he's too ill and has gone skiing)
Ise-man? (expected to be late as he'll be walking up a mountain instead of taking the lift)
Bandit?

No sniggering at the back...

Sorry for the delay folks, everything was sorted but our server hosts threw a spanner at the last minute...

Big thanks to Mr.G. (The Stig of Server Management) for an almost seamless transition! Thanks mate.

Anyway, here we are - anyone else made it yet?

PM me, or e-mail to admin(at)j2ski(dot)com if you have any problems accessing the site.

Hi Mike,

You should get lucky if you contact the local guide's organisations / schools - there are often other solo skiers and/or small groups arranging to go off-piste who'll be amenable to having someone else join them and split the cost.

Some guides/schools may even have solos already booked at the time you're planning, so it may be worth e-mailing a few to ask and register your own interest.

Certainly it'd be better to go with a guide-led group if the rest of the skiers aren't known to you (then you know that at least one of the group know where you're going).

Ok, random examples for that week :-

Self-catered cabins, Niederau, Austria - £299
Self-catered apt., Avoriaz, France - £379
Self-catered, La Thuile, Italy - £414

You have got the advantage of a low season week though, so my advice would be to leave it until ten days before you go - I reckon you'll find plenty of good deals closer to the date. Look at some of the deals on offer for the next two weeks - you should be able to get something similar if you wait until end of Feb before booking.

What dates are you looking at Iceman? Quite a few packages to the "big four" countries going for around £400 (inc. flights, accom. and food) on departures in the next couple of weeks.
