Piste Bashing

Mostly it depends on the weather. After fresh snow, it takes a few groomings to firm up the runs enough to prevent push piles forming.

A tactic I use to find good carving runs is to go as far into the resort as possible, as early as possible. Then as the mogul making hordes infest the higher runs, move back to the lower slopes they have leapfrogged. Often there is a moderately hard run back to the base that the worst of the mogul makers avoid, and this is often in good shape for the afternoon.

Something that is not apparent with off the shelf foot beds is that you may need a totally different size or gender to fit the contours of your particular foot. If you had help in the store buying them, you should have tried a few different sizes to find the best shape for your foot. I haven't found any size of superfeet that really works me though.

Levelnine sports had an interesting description of that ski. So much much for some of the so called women's skis  So this would definitely work for a dude.

That's the likely culprit. Off the shelf foot beds work for some, but not for others (assuming these were not custom made).

So I borrowed a go-pro to try out. I was using a 5 foot collapsible hiking pole. I was surprised at how much it affects your balance, but I think if you are doing the self video thing, it's about the right length.

If you are going to spend that kind of money, why not do South America in the summer? (and make us all jealous)
Carve vs Flat wrt Speed

When you first start carving on skis or board, it feels like someone just released the hand brake. As you start to carve at increasingly higher edge angles, you start to feel the loss of speed on each turn, and you need increasing steep terrain. Carving only feels fast compared to skidding turns.

Tell me about it! Last good skiing day here was yesterday, and not even freezing temps at night on the ten day forecast. I feel cheated out of couple of weeks skiing  Was thinking about a Utah trip, but that doesn't look too good at the moment.
