Roof box v ski rack

They'll get ruined if you just put them in the rack. Just some thick plastic would do as long as it doesn't vibrate in the wind!

I would second that. Ski racks are great for locals to go a few miles, but I would not want to expose skis and especially bindings to hundreds of miles of motorway muck. Then again, ski racks do have great poser value.

One sleep. Taking last minute trip to Utah. The temps there are a bit lower this week. Forgive me Father, it's been a week since I last skied (and I'm desperate).

A top box is a great investment if you have a car or estate. I often use one even with an extended 7 seater van. On a long trip the passengers are less cramped. For water sports you can keep the wet stuff out of the vehicle, likewise for camping.
I have a large box and it makes maybe one or two miles per gallon difference on a long haul.

Unless she is a slow developer , twelve might be a good time to invest in boots. My experience is that their feet don't grow at a steady rate, and you are likely to get a couple of seasons out of a pair of boots. By thirteen/fourteen, they are approaching their adult size anyway. I always managed to find good deals that made buying new worthwhile, this is an instance where used might be a good idea if you know what the fit will be like. Also at that age, they start to appreciate better fitting boots in terms of performance, and are better able to give feedback as to how the boots are really fitting.

At that age she is probably in women's ski boots, so it's a good idea to make sure (unless she is a big girl) that the flex is on the softer side.
Ski care prior summer storage

I'm not a great believer in storage wax, though a normal wax and tune is a good idea. Some wax will be left on the edges, protecting them from corrosion. P-Tex base material is a plastic. About the only things that will damage it in storage are UV light and heat; it doesn't oxidize.

It might worth looking for late season deals on waxing and tuning, but if there are none, just take a candle and rub some wax on to the steel edges. There are often preseason offers for ski service, so don't wait until the last minute before you use them again.

My best deal in the end of season clearance was finding an odd corner of Marshals (part of TJ Maxx) with a hole bunch of overlooked £20 wool ski socks and walking socks at £2.50, 80% off :D

Prob the best investment in skiing I've ever made

Gotta say I agree, but I'm sure it's down to who makes them.
