Hi Pavelski,
Me too I would like to thank you very very much for these classes!! They were easy to comprehend, and I can not imagine the amount of effort you must have put into this. But most impressive of all: I prepared my new skis just like you teached us and they go like stink! I was so happy... Ice like concrete in early mornings has never before been such an intense experience, such pleasure!! I have plenty of questions about the ski base and wax after skiing them... Au revoir ! Dino |
I have a colleague who told me a story about his shins being skinned, even after just 2-3 days of skiing. He got sort of used to it, because before leaving on a ski trip he shaves his underlegs to avoid hairs growing into the wounds and causing infections... After a week or so skiing the skin needs to restore for 2-3 weeks.
It is absolutely abnormal, but anyone has a clue what could be wrong there? Some additional info: With rental boots the problem occurs 1 day earlier than with his own boots, which are Salomon Xwave with flex 85. We never skied together, but is seems that his skiing is quite 'aggressively', with plenty of linked short turns. |
Aaargh, I nearly missed this one!! Just back from Japan...
Very much interested! What a unique initiative! Although it will be difficult for me to attend every week, I hope to catch up at least every 2 weeks when that happens, in case it doesn't create any problems. |
Thanks a lot for your reply!!
Just for your information: I am not racing, I just love skiing. And recently my interest in the ski itsself has increased. The more I learn about it, the more fascinating it gets. I would like to try to prepare skis myself, because last year in Wengen, I have tried a pair of tuned skis. This was quite an eye-opening experience for me to see this level of grip, response and linearity. Anyway, I am planning to give it a try on 2 old pairs of skis. The problem remains that I have not even seen, or payed attention to, someone preparing a ski. That is where the video should be usefull in order to get some practice. Then, this winter I want to find an experienced person who can show me in real. Your offer to show the basic steps sounds fantastic, but I live in Europe, Belgium. I will check your idea with the travel agency... My sister has a Mac platform if needed. The documentation for ski technicians interests me a lot, it must be full of precious advice!! Most of the tools I did collect already. Do you have any advice on files? To me they all look the same at the moment. As for the wax, is there a superior brand of wax or are they all nearly equal for their specific temperature range? The only article about ski tuning I have read until now is the one from this website: http://www.sidecut.com/index_en.html. Also the info in the Atomic brochure looks usefull. Otherwise it is hard to find decent material about ski tuning. --> good books/articles? Many thanks! |
