I would second Pre la Joux, which would be much less hassle than driving through Morzine or Montriond and trying to park at Les Ardents (or is it Prochains??) which is normally pretty busy at New Year.
Obviously if the snow is good (and lets hope it can't be as bad as last season) there are a number of smaller resorts nearby as well as Thollon les Memises. Bernex is nearby. Isn't Thollon about 1500m once you're up the gondola? |
Hi
Depends how many of you there are and there is a difference between best and cheap! I sometimes find car rental cheaper than private transfers (even if the hire car sits in the resort doing nowt all week)! Don't forget your luggage though when booking a hire car, especially if there are more than 2 of you in the party. We've had many a fun time trying to squeeze 4 people into an economy hire car with luggage and ski gear... the krypton factor springs to mind  Private transfer are a good option, but can be expensive so it can be worth your while gettin a few quotes. Try holidaytaxis.com or transferintelligence.com (I'm sure other regular posters can also recommend a few more). Another option if you want real cheap (and aren't too fussed about how long it takes) is public transport. Check out altibus.com who should be able to do Chambery to Les Menuires. Be warned though, some routes only offer one or two trips a day, and some days none at all! Good luck. |
