Hi Everyone

this is my first forum and i need some advice . we are a family of total beginers and we have taken lessons at the local xcape centre and after a load of hard work and falls we have now managed to reach the standard of being let lose alone.. I bought my partner a nice pair of ski boots at ellis binghams as a reward due to her feet hurting with the hire boots, and feeling cold. :( Due to us going to lapland ..levi and have heard it was cold the girl in the shop said we should buy my girlfriend them smartwool phd ski socks at £18 and have a set of sole liners put in that will mould into her foot shape but they are £60 ..do you think she needs those things as she has to wear the boots for 15hours untill she get used to them now she says her feet go numb while she does her ironing with them on any thoughts on the matter...ps sorry its such a long mail... :)

Welcome to the forum kiptic :D The socks are a good brand and I hope they are the correct thickness for the fit of your partners' boots. As for the Sole brand liners, maybe they will be the right choice?.
A footbed should offer support and some stability for the foot. The correct choice of footbed (there are several different brands and types) ought to be made by a boot fitter. As your girlfriend is getting numbness, she should go back to the shop soon, and get some assistance as Ellis-B's have a "fit" warranty.

I believe that footbeds are a great idea, as the inside of ski boots is in no way shaped like the soles of my feet :D

Thanks for that the socks should be fine as they used them in shop for fit as for ellis warenty i thought it was causing the numbness due to her just starting to wear them .. will keep our eye on it thou ..

Is that £60 for a pair of 'off the shelf' insoles/footbeds?
Seems a bit steep if that is the case.

I can recommend the smart wool socks; don't smell, keep your feet amazingly 'dry', keep you warm & are very durable ( no i dont work for smartwool but do own several pairs).

Would think if 'her'feet go numb ironing then skiing in the new boots will be a lot worse; did you have the 'shell check'( for correct size) stuff done etc when you were buying?
Get it sorted sooner rather than later as the previous poster suggest, there is a 'fit' warranty of sorts.
Good luck

I assume she was shown the correct sequence to buckle them up & advised how tight?

yes she was shown how to adjust them ect the soles were off the shelf told they were like that memory foam and i am sure they said £60 of the shelf but the boots it might just be her not used to them yet...
