Yes, you are right, however so many resorts are geared up for 7 night stays and this is still peak season, they may end up sleeping in the car!
Chamonix does more short stays.
I have seen beginners groups in Chamonix and there is plenty of mellow terrain at Le Tour.

cheers, I spoke to a friend today who told me chamonix is awesome but said that you need a car to get about whilst your there which put me off. Its looking like Morzine at the minute, been on the website and it looks like its ticking all the boxes but What is Verbier like?

Contact the local tourist office - they will fix you up with suitable accommodation within your budget.

Verbier?

Brilliant skiing, linked areas with lots of off piste and itinerary routes. Superb lift system.
Lively apres ski.
Loads of places to go to eat and drink, quite expensive in the main, and sadly full of the hoorah henrys from Surrey.

Well worth a trip though.

Chamonix has ski buses that are free with your Pass. I learnt to ski there at Le Tour which is 15 minutes from Cham centre. For a group of guys it would be ideal and only 1 hour from Geneva. This accomodation always looked quite good to me http://www.chaletb.com/
