Thanks Dave - I appreciate you mentioning that. I'd really like somewhere a bit "small & friendly" 'cos its quite intimidating when you're a bit pants compared to everyone else! Also, last time we went, we had quite a trek on a ski bus so being near the slopes & facilities is my preference. I've been a bit unlucky with the snow conditions on my previous visits and whilst I know nothing is guaranteed, I want to concentrate on "best bets". I really want the opportunity to get better this time! You didn't mention Norway in your original reply. Is that not suitable for beginners? Thanks again

Kilo,
My older daughter went to Geilo in Norway, as a complete beginner, with her school and had a great time and became a good skier. But it was expensive, and about 10 years ago.

Kilo, I am a great believer in making life easy, and this is particularly important when first startng out in skiing. Even just holding the skis, sticks, and clomping about in heavy boots. Not knowing the ropes, and often, not speaking the language. So, on the things that you can make easy for yourself, why not do that.
So, how about:
Inghams brochure, inside back page, look at locations marked four star for beginners. Don't look at any other locations.
Next, you are looking for two things ~ 1)acceptable accomodation close to beginner slopes ~ 2)a destination with nice flights, and modest transfer times.
That is a methodology. Of course I have some suggestions. Austria, Filzmoos, and my home ground, Niederau. France, Risoul, although it seems to have disappeared from some TOs.
