Thanks everyone, I am in a dilemma.
She is clearly in pain, but of course I don't know how quickly it will heal.
Nurses were aware she going skiing and said she will know her limits.
She is not a beginner, so falling is less of a problem in she can stay on her feet!
My Mum is a possibility, she has to stay home anyway as her (71 year old) partner came off a lift in La Plagne last week and broke his ankle.
He's in for an op tomorrow
I think a wrist guard is something to think about.
I'll see how she is tomorrow.
It was so close to a break that a 2nd opinion was given at the larger casualty.
Oh Damn. Damn. Damn.

You're right, her welfare is the issue. Not my selfish desire to ski once this season!!!
I'm still thinking.....

Good news its not broken, but a sprain is a fob off excuse by the hospital for another kid of injury that they usually cant be bothered to diagnose or treat. It could be a partial dislocation or a ligament tear or strain, either of which can be very painful and requiring physio to correct.
Every time she bends or turns that wrist its going to be agony, especially if she goes over on it for instance.
I'd be getting an urgent appointment with a private physio tonight if it were me to properly assess the injury and take advice, as she may damage it further skiing next week.
I dont want to sound like doom and gloom, but surely her welfare is the big issue here?

I'm pleased for you and your daughter that it's not a break. If she's anything like my boys, the pain will suddenly subside once she's on her ski's. Strap it up well and plenty of painkillers should do the trick.

Of course it's sore right now, but get some painkillers into her and she'll be fine. Neurofen 3x a day and calpol 4x a day and she'll be grand. Wear the wrist guard and go have FUN !!! (Maybe let your insurance co. know before you travel)

While I curse about having to sort out medical bills and insurance in the US, It is nice to be able to go and see an orthopedic specialist who skis and understands what you are asking (tomorrow, not in three months time). My GP is even in my race league
Did the hospital not supply a brace ?
If it were me in that situation and much depends on how keen your daughter is, I would take her, but.... I would fork out for a very solid wrist brace, not a support or wrist guard, and a pair of mittens, not gloves. Might even be tempted to tape the fingers and thumb folded, as they would be more vulnerable to breaking, with the wrist guard holding the hand and arm rigidly. And of course, no ski poles.
Even if she doesn't ski while there, the wrist brace will give confidence to get out and have fun.
Tony may well be right though, and that's when access to an expert is a Gods send.
