I think I will just sack it up and pay the extra, I like the idea of the dog tags be it an expensive novelty. Thanks for pointing this out. I believe we will be doing some routes out with the 'area boundary' so better to be safe and cover my ass.

We tend to use Fogg Travel as they were excellent when we did our seasons. They always used to settle their bills quickly and their medicard was widely accepted, unlike some other policies whereby you'll have to pay locally and claim back yourself.
Sadly, you won't know how good your cover is until you actually experience a claim, by which stage it is too late.
It's probably worth a call to the insurer to check their off piste definition and clarify any areas of concern. Keep a record of who you spoke to and when incase of a subsequent dispute.
