I just looked at a Ryanair flight from Frankfurt Hahn to Glasgow for Hogmany. 30 EUR to check 1 back!!
Cheap Flights With Ryanair

what do you mean by share?
It's simple, lets say 2 folks travelling together. Not too much luggage, so put it in one suitcase. If it's over 15kg then there will be an excess baggage charge levied, despite both travellers have paid for a luggage allowance. They don't allow pooling of weight allowances.
Not correct, H&S legislation for the UK baggage handlers, specifies that a single bag should be 23kg or under. Ryanair will levy an excess baggage charge at 16 kilos.
It's all about maximising revenue, staff receive a bonus apparently :D
I'm guessing neither of us has a copy of the Ryanair contract with their baggage handlers though )
I doubt staff receive receive a bonus but I'd imagine the handling agents receive a per transaction charge. In fact I doubt the check-in staff are Ryanair employees either.
What will actually be the case is they limit the baggage weight to reduce payload in the first instance. Extra bags or extra weight count as separate or extended transaction which their agent charge them for and they pass on.
The public chose this way of doing of business in pursuit of lower prices, I know we can all do maths and see it adds up but the Ryanair business model (like so many others) correctly assumes a lower standard of numeracy. All of which means it's not Ryanairs fault but really it's down to successive governments fannying about with education to the point where a sizeable part of the population can't count anymore )

It two of you are travelling make sure you each take a bag as Ripoffair don't allow you to share our weight allowance.
As soon as someone suggests to Michael O'Leary that he should charge for the air on board he will.
Don't forget to take your sunnies on board to cope with their hideous interiors.
Personally, I'd rather fly with almost anyone else other than the hidden charging false advertising bunch of crooks. :!:

that's just a baggage handling requirement, nothing sinister, it's not unreasonable that baggage handler have a limit on what they're expected to pick up

Personally I'd rather walk than fly Rynair.
They once sold me a flight in a time slot they didn't actually have at Stansted, only several months later when they realised I was serious about legal action did they finaly give me a refund - ****** chancers. That was 4/5 years ago and from the stories I hear they have not changed, in fact maybe got worse.
I'd rather just see a fair price up front - all their sneaky extras just leaves a bad taste
Easyjet on the other hand I once managed to turn up at Luton instead of Stansted for a flight to Glasgow (my cock up), not only did they find me a seat on a flight from there instead but they didn't charge me! Now that is service - I'd happily have paid a fortune to get there on time that day to my daughters dancing show and the cock-up was mine. Mind you they are heading down the OTT extras route to... just remember to remove that travel insurance unless you really want/need it.
