uh uh... Boots, IMHO, are possibly the most important part. Many, many years ago, (i think i may have even been with the mod), i hired boots that were too small. Didnt really realise til lunchtime, but ploughed on regardless. That evening as the boots came off, my feet didnt look good. And for the next 3 days i didnt ski and watched various toenails turn black and drop off....

The moral is that if you dont feel happy with the boots, stop, go back to the shop and change them. I have done that a few times since. They dont seem to mind. What feels ok in the shop may feel different in use.

Toenails usually go black and drop off due to being over long IMO.
Womens toenails tend to be on the brittle side because of being repetedly painted,So keep them short and trimmed.

Good advice AJ. In addition, ski boots that are too large or small can result in the toe being banged against the front of the toe-box. Not nice!

cutting my toenails as short as possible is part of my preparation :D

Karen and davidmpires, try on as many boots as you like, it's such an important factor. You can change your boots and your skis as many times as you like so I'd start with the bronze and see how you feel Karen. I'd also say book online rather than go for the skiworld package, it's a LOT cheaper

Yes I normally try on a few pairs and then decide on a pair and have never had to change during the week. I go half a size or a whole size bigger normally as that's what seems to work for me but everyone is different.

Trencher, I wonder if you could say a bit more about the importance of Sidecut Radius when selecting a ski for a Beginner? What would the difference in experience be to the beginner between a “straight” ski and a “radical sidecut” ski?

As you know I value your opinion on all things and your post left me wanting to know more!
