Womens toenails tend to be on the brittle side because of being repetedly painted,So keep them short and trimmed.

LOL. Get your head round this then, A chap was telling my OH last season that a bloke in his ski class could not ski for the life in him.
The instructor was baffled to say the least as to why he could not even master the basic`s after almost a wk,Until he had a look at his feet.
The bloke had had his boots on the wrong feet,

In the same vein. Read on another forum. A ski instructor was passing by a chalet in Val D'Isere and saw a woman struggling and failing to get her boots to clip into her ski bindings.

He stopped to help, and turned her skis the right way round.

I thought the skiworld was online? can you recommend an online place to get them? I am really looking at buying a cheap pair for the kids, hopefully I can pick them up for about £30 and sell them the year after when they are too small. I was even thinking ofjust buying a second hand pair off ebay or something like that. Do you think it is worth getting measured at a ski shop then looking online for a bargain? or am I just asking for trouble.

I had a giggle at some of the posts -
skidaddle I like your gay mode...that was funny.

I only ever hired my boots once and that was when i went with the school so i havent really got much experience about hiring. I must admit that when i bought my first pair of ski boots the difference between them and the hired boots were worlds apart.

I must admit that i have never worried about the toenails turning black but i am a bit concerned now. YOu know what kids are like when they get their shoes, they are fine when they leave the shop then they are killing them!.

I think the bronze package for 6 days for skis boots and poles for adult through skiworld was £54 i didnt think that was bad.

[cough] This link for Online Ski Hire will take you to our partners - SkiSet. They're going to be reorganising the packages a little for the coming season, and we'll have a Press Release here when that's finalised, but "Bronze" (or the coming equivalent) should be just what you want.

Any decent ski hire shop will let you change your boots if you have any issues, and you shouldn't be afraid to take as long as you need (and as many pairs as you need) to find the right fit in the first place.

To give yourself the least pressure, and give the shop the best opportunity to help you, try and choose a time to avoid the Tour Operator Group rush (generally Saturday evening and Sunday mornings, but research your chosen resort).

My GF did that in Kaprun a few years back. I was with her in the shop and the boot fitter and I were trying to convince her that they weren't ever going to feel like slippers, when he and I noticed she had them on the wrong feet. A knowing glance and smile between the two of us eventually gave way to laughter and he eventually said something on the lines of "Maybe if you try them on the correct feet, we can all go home tonight!"

She denies it to this day, of course.

Sorry, I thought you mean skiworld as in the tour operator. £54 is a good price.

Hi
I think we sometimes overestimate what we get or need for our money.
Many years ago I skiied several times wearing a very old pair of 2nd hand rear entry boots and straight skis which were about 30-40 cm longer than those currently in vogue.
Guess what? I loved it and enjoyed every moment.
Subsequently I bought my own boots and skis and used those for a few years and guess what? I loved it and enjoyed every moment.
Recently I decided my skis were getting a bit old and knackered (and so was I)and fed up carting a long ski bag everywhere when I went on holiday so I decided to keep my really comfortable boots which I have now had for many years and hire skis in the resort, the first year I went for the VIP skis and guess what? I loved it. Last year I decided that with the lower exchange rate that I would try my old boots and the bog standard hire skis, guess what? I loved it.
Thinking about it what I got for the VIP ski price as opposed to bog standard price was a set of skis that were going to be great for someone who skied on the edge all the time, I don't, I just cruise down pistes enjoying the scenery. If you have comfy feet and snow under them and you are just loving it, who cares what colour of medal you have?
If you are not loving it, work out why and change it. If you are loving it you can change it and see if it gets better....
