why do you recommend the mx7's and not the mx9's? are the 9's too stiff? is tecnica not as good as fischer? all the three boots i mentioned (vento 6, agent 80 and lange fluid 90) cost 170uss aprox. aren't they good?
thank you very much for your help!

Nothing against the other boots. Haven't tried Technica (just thier soft ski boots), but quite like the lange boots I've used. I really like the fischers I have (Race f9000) and wish I could justify a new pair of MXpro. I was just blown away by the price of the MX7. I like the profile of Fischer boots in that they do not overhang as much as others. This is important to me, for as it helps with boot out when carving. Lange are good in this respect too.

Generally while people are most concerned about fit, boots are almost as different as skis. So even if you paid full whack for a pair of boots with the undivided attention of a boot fitter and came away feeling you had a great pair of boots, you would never know how another pair might have suited your style of skiing better. Unless you can find a store with a slope close by and a full stock of demo boots, you are always taking a chance.

Now theres a thought, I know its a bit cheeky but you could go to your local ski shop and get fitted for a pair of boots ( just to find out your size )and then ask (as Trencher said ) if they have a demo pair you could give a try. If they are desperate for a sale they might just oblige if the prices are as expensive as you say.Or barter with them to get some cash knocked off.Good luck.

...or you could go to the shop, go through the motions up to the point when they're personalised, say that you need to think about it and then buy them online

I can't imagine there's much difference between hiring and buying a pair of boots that you've never tried on.

[I would just like to add, for the record, that I don't condone this type of behaviour.]

the thing is season starts in june here and i live in Buenos Aires (biggest and capital city in Argentina) which is far far away from the ski resorts so there's not plenty of ski shops in here. Therefore, the ski shops here have very few models of boots and it would be a waste of time to go there. Regarding size, i tried a pair of 26,5 dalbello p12's from a friend of mine and turned out to be pretty small. I think i'm gonna go for the 27's.
Regarding price, the difference is enormous. Imagine a boot retail price is 500 uss, you can probably find it in the US right now on sale for 200 uss. Here they would sell it (at the beggining of the season) at probably 700 uss.

In the photos you can see that the blue Lange boot will hit the snow (boot out) when carving, befor the black Fischer boot.

If you look at most Technica and especially Nordica, you will see the overhang is even lower and will boot out sooner.

thanks for the explanation trencher!

yes i understand it won't affect my skiing.

i have finally decided to buy the Lange Fluid 80 FR. Too bad i was kind of liking fischer boots tough. However, i don't dare buy a size too small (the only 26.5 i've tried were too tight) so i have to buy size 27 and the seller has none of it.

i apreciate your help guys! you've been really helpful!
i'll let you know when i get my boots!
yours
