i think i know what youre getting at with the stag idea. you have to imagine most of the lads will probably be leathered everyday so snow or grass on the slopes wont really matter. ive been to bansko and andorra pas de la casa as a cheap option both were very cheap but not as good as say les duex alpes for night life.

im of to cham on thursday so ill re post about night life then but really mate you want..... a short transfer and cheap beer. the snow is a bonus that most of your stag party wont see ;)

roberts your mothers brother!

If you're group are more interested in beer than skiing then there could be no harm in Bansko/Bulgaria. I've not been, probably never with and in April I wouldn't count on having much to ski-you never know though.

For snow sure, and good apres in April I say Solden.

Rossyhead, is the transfer to Livigno not nightmare-ish?

It's long yes-4hrs but it's not a nightmare, straight up the motorway to bormio through the tunnels then 50mins of turns roads up over the top and drop into livigno

Hey all
its becoming more apparent that for our budget snow is going to become hard to find, Although we are a stag do and of course beer is high on the list the skiing was also just as important(although not at the same time). 50% of are group are active people the other half are beer monsters
so im looking for the right mix of fun and pubs i suppose , Any other suggestions i would be gratefull for :-o

Rossyhead, too long for me but mainly because I live 3hrs from my nearest airport in the UK so like to keep my in resort transfer to 2 hours or less if possible.

Dodge uk, doing a ski holiday on the cheap vs say a week in Ibiza etc is difficult as the lift tickets and hire costs are pretty much fixed but you get what you pay for by and large-what is your budget per person?

To give you an idea we're off to St Anton for my stag do the last week of March. We did an ealry booking so got 2 for 1 lift passes, catered chalet so breakfast 7 days, and evening meal 6. That came to £589 per person. For those hiring gear add another £100 on to that and for those with their own £35 ski carriage.

I don't expect beer included we'll get much change from £1000 a head. It's not cheap for a stag do but it's also a weeks holiday and I can't think of any other way I'd rather spend my last week of freedom! I could have probably got twice the numbers going if I choose a boozey weekend in Benidorm et el as it has excluded allot of non-skiers from coming.

Sheesh - it is either a ski trip or a stag do! Make you mind up. If you want to ski in April, then you need to be well above 6,000 ft altitude. If you want a party, then go where you and your friends feel most comfortable.

Skiing with a load of drunken blokes is not my idea of fun, but if that floats your boat then I heartily recommend either St Anton, Zermatt, Verbier or Chamonix - I can honestly say that the opportunities to get pissed in the villages are numerous, this, coupled with excellent skiing is something that engender a certain respect.

I have fond memories of Zermatt, paid a heavy penalty for wearing a kilt on New Years Eve there once - but Zermatt is a magical place. I will not return after a run in with one of the local yokels.
