I have a small combination skilock that cost less than £10; definitely worth it for a little bit of peace of mind. And when I do get to the slopes this season, with a new pair of Rossignol Experience 88s, I will most certainly be using it to secure them - wherever and whenever!

I do all the wrong things from reading the above. I put one ski with someone elses' and they do the same. I put them outside any restaurant with everyone elses'. How can I lock skis - there is nothing for a lock to go 'through'?

Don't bother never had any problems in the resorts I ski

The line on the lock is only thin, there must be somewhere on the binding you can slot it through (Sorry i snowbaord so dont know much about skis)

Lexiloo ~ how about locking 2 or more pairs of skis together with the lock going around the middle of the bindings. Not easy pinching more than one pair of skis at a time I would have thought.

Should work unless someone is bombing round the mountain with some bolt cutters.

It's best to lock them up with skis belonging to people you know!

I used to use one of those cable locks with the combination, until I had a problem with it and it wouldn't open. I borrowed a pair of pliers from a liftie and was shocked how easy the wire was to cut through. Since then I haven't bothered.
Have to say that in 15 years of organising trips of 20-45 skiers we've never had a problem and most of the resorts we visit are supposed to be high risk.
If you have brand new must have skis then locking is probably sensible (with a proper lock!), otherwise I'm not sure it's necessary.

I must say I've not had a problem to date.. but you know what they say .. famous last words.

Yes, as you say famous last words. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just it hasn't happened to any of our skiers.
If it did happen to me, well my old B2s has seen better days!
