No point in insulation Ally, being underground, caves are held at a constant temperature.

Cave doors, now they are a problem.

Me neither, listening to Eric Clapton's "Chronicles", and thinking about where to go for first week November.

Have you made a decision yet Dave for November?

Absolutely not, Rose. Have suggested lots of possible options, but after initial enthusiam, interest wains. My OH takes no joy from birthdays!

We have had a torrid sleepless week with the two dogs, one having "her" operation, the other his injections. The bright bit is that the new dog is a star with his training.

I suspect that we will end up going somewhere in the highlands, by then we will be down to one dog, the other goes up for harness training in mid-October.
Or we could go to Spain, or Italy, or anywhere. As you can see, I am not exactly in control!

Dave Mac,
Are you still living in one of those underground caves? I've got one of the newer sort, built on top of the ground, with walls about 2 1/2 feet thick and these things you can see through called windows, which are really great because they bring a lot of light into the cave. Unfortunately though, the roof isn't very thick and a lot of heat from the fire escapes through it. So I'm trying to do something about it.

I fixed the door problem, by having 2 doors. It's quite ingenious really, because you only open one door at a time so the wind doesn't whistle into the cave. And there's room to stand in between the 2 doors in the dry, while you put your welly boots on.

I had to go to thr rescue of my blind neighbour the other day, his guide dog must have been distracted and led him straight into the wheelie bin. Bin and neighbour went flying, dog just sat there looking so innocent.

Sounds like my cave, except I need extra ceiling height to accommodate my enormous head.

Ally, you've got to get this month's DM ski and snowboard mag, it's got a section on eco skiing, right up your street
