As a matter of fact I've been ill myself for the last 3 days or so, and I haven't been out working (which is why I've been on here - in case anyone's been wondering).

I've got a high temperature, exhaustion, I was sneezing, and I've got a pain in my back on the right side which I think is in my lung. I don't know if I have a nasty cold or the pig flu like swskier.

I don't feel like I'm dying or anything, in fact I'm feeling a bit better now, but I would like to know how one can tell whether it's swine flu or not. The NHS website was no help at all.

Do you really think you've got it, or just a nasty cold?

Ally

Yep I am more or less certain the air conditioning in the car help to keep my tempetature down and nurofen to help with the cough that I still have but it is not as bad today.
I very rarely get colds one after the flu vacination and thats about it very seldom off ill from work, so this is a strange one for me I do not feel like I'm dying and I do not see why I would need to take tamiflu.
Like I have posted previously we beleive our media too much it is all about selling newspapers without a care for society, so don't be a victum just get on with your daily routine just like me....peel me a grape please... 8) 8)

Ian,
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now.

Rose,
I think it's terrible that you're all expected to work when you're ill. You poor things. Have they run out of pharmacists now, or what?

It was funny how I had a sudden rise in staff absences due to Swine Flu...after the NHS stopped swabbing for it! One person only had it for two days

This has caused absolute mayhem for me and my staff. We are the distribution centre for the area and its just mass hysteria. Its ridiculous. I can say goodbye to days off until this hysteria passes. One lady came to me yesterday and said she was feeling hot and suspected she had swine fever, I asked if she had taken her temperature, she said it was normal so I suggested that as it was a very hot day if she removed her cardigan and winter coat and had a walk around she might feel cooler, if not come back to me. She did an hour later and said she felt much better she suspected she had just had a mild form. I am having to work with security by the side of me as the abuse we took the last two days was ridiculous.
The criteria of handing Tamiflu out is very strict requiring the flu pal to have ID and ID of the patient. Most of the patients are babies and children and children do not have much ID except a birth certificate, and if they are on holiday parents tend not to bring it with them. Result......they cant have it. So the Father then comes in to us with such torrents of abuse, many staff have been reduced to tears.

It shouldn't be handed out full stop.

Only for patients with a script and respitory disease (or other complications).

Another fine example of British tabloid media setting goverment policy.

Rose, you guys have been given a thankless task for all the wrong reasons, I feel for you!!

Its ridiculous the people who are SUPPOSED to have it are to send some-one else in for it, they are told not to put us at risk. We had 10 people yesterday come in for it themselves, not only did they get their Tamiflu they got short thrift from me. They showed no symptoms, from the twice in my life I have had full influenza I could not get out of my bed let alone drive my car to go shopping. I almost wish I would get it then I could get away from it for a week

Judging by the symptoms of 99%+ of all sufferers; you do have it, take a week off, put the kettle on and get the winter brochures out :)

Rose,
Thank you very much for working so hard to help us all, although I'm not actually in your catchment area. And I'm sorry some people have been so awful towards you and your staff. But it's nice to know there are people around like you prepared to do their bit for everyone. I'm sure some of the people who come to you for the drugs are actually helped by them.

Whatever was wrong with me has gone now, after 4 days. Yesterday I managed to clean all day and then go for a 6 mile hike. So I am back to normal - thank goodness. I don't know what it was, but I'm very glad it's gone, with no treatment other than rest and plenty of drinks. It's very rare I become totally exhausted like I was - unable to move.
