Interesting first post.manny2003 wrote:Hi :)
I have been to Niederau twice now and absolutely loved it. Yes the skiing is limited but Auffach is another area covered by a free ski bus and on the same skipass. I loved the black run in Niederau.
I have seen Herbert playing the harp and he was brilliant. :D
I loved the area and I would go again. The village is nice and the locals are friendly. The mountain huts are not overpriced and :Pand there seemed to be a nice friendly attitude everywhere.
This resort is perfect for beginners and early intermediates or if you want to build up confidence. The pistes where always perfectly groomed when I was there.
DaveMac, you do well there. Wish I was working and living there.

I actually do feel the desire to ski all day every day, which is precisely why I go, ie to ski and not to sit about doing nothing or getting hammered, as that can be done as Ian rightly points out anywhere anytime.
First lift, last lift.
I didn't know the Austrians drunk tea, we might get on after all as long as it is Earl Grey

I actually agree about the link, as that will mean you can ski Niederau in the hour or so that it takes you to cover the slopes, and then pass on to another area.munich_johnny wrote:I do think once the lift between Auffach and Alpbach is built next summer that it will make for a pretty good day's skiing.

Apres Ski is all part the fun for me. I don't feel the desire to ski 8 hours a day every day either.....so a beer is fun as well.

I can afford to be lazy about my skiing. I'll be on the slopes probably 40+ days this year if there is snow, so no interest in actually skiing all day long :-)

Now theres a man after my own heart. Unfortunately, the only time I get is on a holiday trip, so minimum 6 days a week, and cant have just the 1 week so aim for 2 at least = 12 days skiing. Sometimes get a 3rd week or short break so maybe 15 days skiing a season.....quite a sad difference compared to yours, but I see why you treat it differently.munich_johnny wrote:I can afford to be lazy about my skiing. All the above is sound; I suppose those of us who have to save and book precious time off to go abroad to ski inevitably value the hours in the day a bit more than those who can just open their back door and see the Alps ! That said, I do enjoy a Jagertee at lunchtime :)

There will be snow in niederau - just as well as I am out the 23rd december. (zoover has it to snow on 5th!)
Niederau is awesome apres ski is as good as you make it - Ray is back at O Malleys this year and he is a one man apres ski!!
Treff is also good if there is a good crowd and toni is a good host. Love niederau so much I go there three times a year (and I do ski in other places also!) :)
