Does anyone know of a good brand/shop who can do prescription sunglasses for skiing? I have a strong prescription, and my optician tells me Oakley don`t do a lense to suit my prescription. In the past i have just used my normal sunnies for skiing, but these are really not suitable. I need to get a decent pair or wrap arounds if possible. Any help appriciated....

Hi

I know that you can get prescription Adidas ski-glasses, as a family member has some. The prescription bit pops out if you don't want to use it all the time and you are left with a damn fine pair of sunnies.

Expect to pay around £220.00 I think.

Hope this helps.

If you have a strong prescription then many of the wrap styles of sunnies cannot be made with a prescription lens, as you will get too much distortion. Instead you can get a clip in for sunnies like these:

I have a pair and they are quite tough. Alternatively get some decent goggles that can go over glasses.

Oakley do excellent prescription sunglasses and can be ordered from most opticians. And they look cool.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. i`ll see what Adidas can do. I`m not fussed about the cost really, as they`ll be used twice a year, and are pretty important )

I thought i`d be struggling with the wrap around ones to be fair, i`ve been to my opticians, and Oakley don`t even do a lense strong enough for me! Maybe new eyes altogether is the way to go.....

I`ve just emailed RX Sport, and they sdaid exactly what you said. Very good )! I might be acting stupid, but i can`t imagine an insert fitting on the inside of a pair of glasses! Are they not obstructive at all, and won`t it just look like you`re wearing 2 pairs of glasses? Sorry, probably a daft question, suppose i really need to go and see them for myself....

They're the ones. I also noticed how good the clarity was, just as a pair of shades.
