I always laugh to see this thread bump back up. The title is so condescending. Most good skiers seem to have no problem with snowboarders.
Two friends of mine were carving up a run at a hiil on Saturday. The were given a lot of grief by two women who accused them of wrecking the run with the carved lines they were making. Lots of snowboarders shouldn't be allowed comments. If there had been some good skiers there, they would have carving lines into the snow too. They had no clue that their skidded turns were really wrecking the run, turning it into a mini mogul field. Just depends on your perspective.

snowboarders are crap, skiers rule :!: :!: rant rant rant yawn :-o whatever 8) Mountains are big places so make room for each other, it would after all be a very boring life if we all liked the same thing would it not :?:
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

In fact if we all done the same thing, then we wouldn't be able to take the mickey out of each other! Friendly banter between mates is one thing, but people thining they are better than others, or have more right to be on the mountain than another is destructive and pretty ignorant also. The old snowboarder skier argument will never go away but the only place for it is over a pint in the bar after a day on the mountain!

Silly thread, but I will toss my 2 cents in.....I see examples of all of these annoying things(scraping snow, getting myself on a little too advanced slope too soon, etc...) described from boards and skis....and I have been guilty of a few Im sure as I was learning to ski and to board(and I now exclusively board, its just more fun)....but simply more kids with something to prove seem to be on boards riding at the edge of their skills....this can be a nightmare on busy days at the mtn....where everyone is plopped down trying to get their boots strapped.....I know, this is irritating to me too......but the one thing that skiers need to understand is that the board needs gravity and momentum to move and steer so when you just stop in the middle of a slope and plant your poles while you wait for your friends at the top of the lift.... at low speed we have a much harder time avoiding you on a board, we dont have any brakes(like a snowplow or poles)...and we have probably just gotten enough speed up to be inching along anyway...we dont have poles to help navigate through the slow flat stuff.....so next time you have some newbie slice across the back of your skis, think of whether you may have put them in a bad situation.....but this has nothing to do with all the friggin li'l maniacs that are trying to impress their friends by gettin too close to slow skiers, and dumb stuff that kids do.....I tell you, that pisses off even the most diehard of boarders

I have no problems with snowboarders
As to poles - I hate them. They just annoyed me when I was going up drag tows or chairs. So I blade now :-)
