My eldest is going there with his school [yes, he's getting 3 skiing trips this season!]
enjoy
I'd be interested to hear what they are charging per head for the school trip Caron, and what board they are taking. I think you will need to give him about £700 pocket money for a week there.

travel, acomm, full board with packed lunches, ski hire, lift pass, 4 hours per day ski school (which he's not happy about!), insurance and "entertainment" - £820.
Not cheap but we're determined for him to go and shine at something he's really good at.

I think that sounds quite reasonable. :D

Even without the 3% rise it's a small fortune, that's why I am cosidering the Holiski option.

It may be prudent to do some more digging around before subscribing to the service. Some local Mayors were citing loss of tax income, and threatening to refuse to accept them. I'm sure that I read they were not accepted in Courchevel, which is nonsense as it's all the same lift system, owned by one big company CdA!

I have got all that to come, TBH I don't think £820 is too bad considering the last two people that I spoke to up this neck of the woods who have sent their kids on a similar school trip paid
£1000 and £1200

What in particular is he not happy about? The fact its 4 hours or the fact its ski school which will improve his ability?

Will they be allowed to ski in addition to the 4 hours ski school?

Caron-a,
Presumably you've checked there are other children in the school group who can ski?
We were undecided until we found out that at least 5 others could and would be put in an ability group together.
They had a trial on the dry slope where the teacher made sure they were capable skiers.
On the 1st morning they were straight on the gondola and up to the top of the mountain.

My daughter has been skiing since she was 4, has raced on dry slopes and had many hours of training. At no point did she consider herself too good for lessons and we noticed a huge difference in her skiing when she went again in April.

They were taught a lot of disciplines and weren't allowed to hare all over the mountain as they might if not in lessons.
She was delighted with her experience, especially being able to ski with other kids.
Structure and discipline are a very important part of any sport and I am sure he will have a fantastic time.

Im sure we spent in the region of £800 for our son to go skiing in Italy in Feb. Didnt need alot of spending money and entertainment at night was part of the cost.

My boys have had group lessons on all of the five skiing holidays they've been on. They have benefitted hugely, however, they both find them boring and just want to ski. We'd agreed that, in future, they would have a private lesson on each holiday, I think they'll benefit more from that and it'll make the family holidays more relaxed.

He does realise that he'll have to have lessons on the school trip and he's got another friend who's of similar ability so he's happy. Saying that, he's got two more ski holidays before that one so he'll probably be even better by then!
