Has anyone been pulled up at the Airport for paying for one ski bag but actually havng 2 sets of skis in there?

Occasionally been questioned about the number of pairs. Also had the bag weighed, some carriers are getting picky over heavy skis  Got away with it all to date, I lied, stuck my toe under the scales edge, whatever it took :D

Also, some airlines have got wise to us canny travellers loading our ski bags with clobber, and insist that only skis go in the bag, which is a bit of a nuisance as most folks pad out the bindings to protect them from the loving care they receive in baggage handling

I tend to use only EasyJet and Aerlingus to fly to europe (not necessarily by choice - there aren't a lot of options) and so far I've never been quized on the contents of my ski bag- which usually contains shovel, shoes and as much clothing as I can get in as well as skis and poles :D

Maybe I've been lucky but in 25 odd years of using a soft ski bag I've never had a pair of skis damaged in transit.

Don't fly through Chambery if you want safe skis. I think I have posted that before.

This has definately been discussed at some point before.

We've never been questioned about what's in the ski bag but we saw a couple getting collared on the next check in desk to us (same flight) about what was in their board bag. They made them take all their clothes out and put them in their luggage them charged them for it. Charming.

We flew out last year with one set of skis and came back with two, no questions asked. It really depends on who you're flying with and how chirpy the check in desk bod is feeling that day.
