I would tune into the radio station.....
Nostalgie! (you have to say it in the style of the jingle - emphasize the gieeee... at the end :-) )
Everybody seems to have this station on in Val Thorens.

Just an opinion Ian, thats all. Interested in your opinion on blind people being on the slopes as I saw one while I was away

Why would you want my opinion on people skiing with disabilities, the mountains are open to who ever wants to use them.

You know, i was going to use the 'deaf skier' argument but really didn't fancy doing this old debate again, its been well done in the past.
Everyone has there own opinion.
Personally i don't think there is anything wrong with it. I, like i should, like we all should, pay attention to what is going on below me i am not going to hit any one just because i am listening to music.
If there is a collision it is more likely that i didn't hear someone coming when they slammed into the back of me in which case its their fault.....not my music's. And anyway i will have my lid to protect me (if i have it on as i love my bobble too!)

I will walk away now :(
Agree with Snapzzz, I got taken out from behind and whether I could hear them or not did not make the slightest bit of difference.
Is this going to join the H,B,N,S,G conversations?

Here is a tip for beginners and those who would like a little rhythm in their skiing on an easy run - one year a fab ski instructor paired us up, and we had to ski a blue/red run in pairs humming The Blue Danube all the way down, it is a waltz rhythm and worked very well - 123 -123 - also looking back up the slope we could see nice tracks!
I enjoy the cheesey europop - as it always reminds me of the Alps, but I guess you could also change words to songs like Flash by Queen to 'CRASH!!! AAAAGH!!'
I also enjoy the Tyrolean yodelling music that you only get in Austria!!

Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

Was once racing my son down in the Schuss, (egg, crouch)position, head down, "he's never going to beat me". It was a cold day, and I did not have my normal woolly hat on, rather a Canadian/Russian style enclosed hat with ear flaps.
So I did not hear the piste basher. Nor, because I was head down, could I see it. When I did look up, the churning blades were 10/15 ft away, and I executed a 50mph left hand turn and stop, just before a fence. My wife, skiing just behind, was already mentally digging out the insurance information, in the "cost of returning the body" section.
No I will not listen to music when skiing.
