Couple of similar issues.....
Serre Chevalier anyone?? Serre Che is a bit more lively a resort so I presume more competition lower prices?? Anyone verify or nullify (love that word) this?
Euro, will we get a better rate in resort or (as i assume) as the pound keeps plummeting are foreigners fearing the prospect of being in posession of money which becomes worth less and less by the day and thus buy it only at cheap prices? Anybody wish to "negate" this theory?
:idea:Helpful Hint: I received lots of spirits and wines this christmas so, bang a couple of bottles in the case and money saved!! I have also reloaded the hip flasks! Just make sure it's in your main case and well surrounded by towels and stuff so as to protect the bottles. If it's in hand luggage you're giving it away to HMR&C - B*$t&rds!!
We also have a Russian Spies drinking game which will be interesting.......

I wouldn't call resenting to pay £6+ for less than a pint tight, you defo wouldn't pay it in england!!
Think you're right though, we should go to andorra and livigno if we want cheap booze!! Can always buy beers from the supermarches anyway which will be considerably cheaper than in the bars!!
Yes your right I've skied LGB for the last five years, I like the area and also the ESF in Chinaillon are first class, my daughter has improved a great deal under there tuition. But there comes a time when enough is enough and a change may be needed, but that decision need not be made till later in the year, the pound may make a recovery. Ever the optimist.
In Les Menuires "Bruyers", try La Chouette, if you are staying in Les M its a cheapish place for lunch, difficult to get to in the evening. Small beer €2.80, Hamburger and chips €8.50 decent portions. On the Mountain Le Chalet Des Neige top of the 3 roc bubble, eat outside they have a snack bar, if you eat in the resturant Tratiflette €15.50, it is one of the best I have ever eaten and comes with a decent salad, but more of a treat than every day lunch, a small beer is €3.00.
In Les M try the Trattoria, the pizzas are good, service can vary, it wasn't expensive compared to the others, there are loads of bars in the La Croisette
I love Livigno, but I got lazy, there was a little too much walking in ski boots but I still go back in the summer, We were there last summer for a week, Bellavista pizza's possibly the best in the world and then onto the Bar agata loverly people. When I first visited Livigno beer was 3000 lira for a small 4000 for a large which was about £1.50 and £1.80, a glass of house wine cost 30p and a very large brandy was 95p, great days if a bit blurred.

Your all right France has always been expensive compared to Italy, maybe it is time to vote with your feet and return to Italia.

Re mountain food cost:
A friend reported he paid 10Eu for soup and 5Eu for a bottle of water, in Val D'I last week.
I paid 4Eu for gulaschsuppe, and 2Eu for hot chocolate in Niederau

looks like our niederau trip will be a lot cheaper than tignes at easter then!
saying that, the husband has just read in the sunday times that some economist reckons we'll be getting back up to 1.25 in the next couple of months. fingers crossed
