You lot can keep your smelly dirty sea and those silly little fibreglass bath tubs that you get into on it.
Living by the sea doesnt mean you have to sail, just like living "inland" doesnt mean you have never seen the sea either :roll:

Anyway, no thanks. Not for me. I did an outbound pursuits course as a teenager, and sailed a Topper and a Wayfairer (sp???) and found it most dull and unpleasant. If I want to go across some water, I will drive over a bridge :mrgreen:

I see what you meant about the scuba gear in my previous avatar. Goggles and hood up, with the arm of a chairlift behind me, which people obviously mistook at a snorkel :D

Diving is a different thing altogether. The Red Sea was stunning to sit by and dive under. But diving and sailing are 2 totally different things.

By the way Mike, there are plenty of places around Peterborough to sail. You dont just need the sea. We have Ferry Meadows Country Park and Rutland Water for starters. No sea for a good hour though.

Mike, you have to understand that the very proximity of Tony to Rutland Water explains a lot, especially his viewing habits on weekends.....

Rutland Water gets mentioned a lot on the sailing forums. Supposed to be good there.

Tony, perhaps Kim and I should drag Fanny Chmelar 'Oop North' for a beer and a sail during the summer.

I'm not a sailor but do as I'm instructed and plan to learn one day.

There are very few feelings like being on an expanse of water surrounded by beautiful coast and islands. with not a person or boat in sight, heading for a restaurant that you can't reach by road, the sails whistling and the spray keeping you cool.

One such day my youngest was at the wheel singing away to himself and I turned to my husband to say that this was a moment I wanted to capture in my memory bank and keep forever. Coincidentally, a photo was taken at that precise moment of me saying those words so it's there in multi colour. It's one of my favourite photos.

hehe, I love being on the water. My old man lives down on the Costa Brava and has a 29ft twin deisel engined modern fishing boat with a semi-displacement hull. Will do about 30 knots on a flat sea, so is more than adequate for water skiing or wake-boarding.

He has been moaning that I have not been to vist for over 2 years, so I sent him an email sying as soon as he gets the boat rigged so I can try one of these I will be down like a flash :)

Tino, where abouts on the Coast Brava? I have been visiting a little fishing village down there for the past 9 years or so, called Calelle de Palafrugell, south of Rosas and north of Palamos, almost directly east of Girona. Next village up is Llafranc, stunningly gorgeous place.
