I am going snowboarding on 1st april with my partner to borovets bulgaria.

I have bought a jacket, salopettes and thermals, and borrowed gloves hat scarf and goggles. Is there anything I should take with me or advice anyone can give that I may not think of as a first timer!

I would suggest some skating wrist guards. Some people don't have trouble with it, but wrist injuries are supposed to be the most common snowboard injury.

Other than that, just be prepared to spend a lot of time on the ground! ;)

You will love Snowboarding
I've actually been to Borovats myself and learn to Snowboard - It's extremly easy to be honest with you i found it much easier than learning to Ski.

At the moment the weather over ther is pretty mild so make sure you take a dark pair of sunglasses just incase it's to hot for googles.
Also take a few pairs of shorts to wear under your salopettes because i took thermals but was to hot to wear so kept to the shorts.

You might read throught the ski hardware, technique and chat forum archives as a lot of the discussion is generic.

Wrist guards mentioned above is good advice. Snowboard specific wrist guards are designed to go under gloves and are easier to use (dakine are good). Inline skate type are bulky and when worn over gloves catch snow which melts (esp. in spring) and soaks the gloves.

I'm sure you will have fun

This is probably too late for you but may help some one else in the coming seasons.

Buy some impact shorts and knee pads - check online stores for bargains. I know you may feel like a crash test dummy, but I so wish that they were available when I first learnt.

Without doubt get yourself some wrist guards, the most common injury for first time snowboarders is broken wrists.

Also as mentioned above knee pads and impact shorts are a good bet. if the slopes get at all icy you will have some very painfull knees (says he with black & blue knees after hitting the slopes in Tamworth snowdome the other weekend).

I'd recommend snowboard wrist-guards, I will be using mine again! think they've helped me in the past (difficult to proove without breaking a wrist!) they can be a bit awkward and not the most comfortable things but worth it. Also a bum/cox bone protector, I think girls suffer more banging their cox bone (which you do alot when you are learning parking yourself hard done on your bum) Most noticable when the piste is hard and icy (as opposed to fresh snow and powder)

On the clothing front a fleecy jumper/long sleeved top is worth having under the ski jacket, 3 layers should be fine, thermals, fleecy top, and jacket(assuming the jacket has a thermal inner, If not then you should have a fleece jacket (so effectively 4 layers))
Layers are the key and zips are good so that you can zip or unzip when required.
