Sorry

I did not mean I have been many times, I was supposed to write I haven't been many times, but their was something wrong with my computer.

Anyway I take this view on preventing injury as I have had personal experience with many injuries for example, tendonitis in the thumb, shoulder & knee, muscle pain, and minor sport injuries in other sports, i.e. football, martial arts, basketball, tennis, etc. :!:

Sorry if you misunderstood me as I am a beginner to the sport of skiing and have only skied indoors for practise, so am trying to learn about the sport and get tips.

Some of my friends have been to certain ski resorts and would like to go as the stories I heard were great, but before I go I wanted to gain a better understanding of the sport.

Also the tips I posted do include some of my own opinion as when I learnt to ski I was mainly spending time falling, and was taught how to fall. These tips are from people who do ski on a regular basis and I have posted the link from where I got them from.

Thanks all the best

To learn more about skiing, take some further lessons and you will improve.

Do you have a booking for this winter? Most resorts will begin to close down their skiing operations mid to late April.
Skiing indoors is great to practise skills, but it is no substitute for being up a mountain. You do need to get to the real snow.

Am I still missing something here?

Whilst I don't want to deride a new J2skier ' who is trying to learn about the sport and get tips' and I fully support anyone who is new to skiing and the challenges it involves; what exactly qualifies the statements regarding injury prevention & jump technique?

Point 6 of the OP - If you do a jump make sure you distribute your weight forward to prevent landing on the tail of the ski which will lead to serious injuries. Simple physics says that is exactly what will happen but as Pablo says, distribute that weight forwards and you will need a gum shield!
I seem to remember Anja Paerson doing this in the Whistler Olympic downhill and look what happened.

And what does 'The reason I said walking uphill is that when I do it you start from the bottom and have to go back down to go home' mean?

Ski_maverick might have added, Don't drink too much. Don't go too fast, especially in traffic, if (like me) you are a learner driver, not an expert. Think twice about going out in poor visibility (anyway it's not much fun). Especially, don't ski tired (I have never understood how anyone who is not very fit AND very experienced can safely ski all day, five days in a row).

Most important for safety, never, ever, do just one more run.

I live by this now

Spontaneously calling it a day after a great run tends to be how it is done.
