Have you plans to go all out on the dynafit or keep the FRs going?

I may, I'm not sure I've a strong reason to take the FR's off the Kilowatts. Although the Voodoos do ski nice with the Dynafits on them, hard to say if it's better than when I had FR's on them, time will tell. & I don't have a spare pair of dynafits so I'd have to buy some.

There's a problem with going dynafit on the kilowatts though, they don't do a crampon wide enough so I'd have to go for Voile crampons.

Is there a disadvantage to having Voile crampons over others?

Is there any real disadvantage to Dynafits, especially harder snow performance? / Release characteristics?

I've not used the Voiles, they look good to me and they're the only choice for some telemark bindings. The fritschi crampons are on the bar under your foot so as you raise your foot they lose bite and on high heel risers barely bite at all, both the voile and dynafits are relative to the ski so there's more bite. That's why fritchi have long versions of their crampons. I'd be happy to use voiles but it's more expense

I've dynafits on some stormriders for a while but it's new on the voodoos, seems OK so far. No big release events so far  I think to start with you just look at them and think "what, those tiny bits of metal?" but after a couple of hours you forget and it feels ok, in fact being right down on the ski feels pretty good.

I just knew that this thread would turn into a kit fest. Just wait until they get onto comparing the length of their ice axes :D

Ross When choosing a set of skins, if you can get them pre-cut to suit, go for it. I did the cut on my Colltex and I found it quite stressful. In one hand, a cheap Stanley knife and in the other hand, £100 worth of skins. with the 1st cut, there is no going back!

just got a new one actually, Air tech evo slider, 53cm which is just nice.

I think g3 supply some skins with their special cutter which is apparently easier. Personally, I've never cut any, I've always got the supplier to do it for me.

Thanks for the pictures guys, I've been well and truly illuminated.

In future I'll keep my grubby nose out of all the 'tech' stuff and confine my inquisitive chatting to topics such as:

'HELP! skiing gives me a nose-bleed'
or
'HELP! why is it so cold up a mountain?'
or
'HELP! anyone out there got a room in the Alps ( I've got no money, I smell and I cross-dress)
:D :D :D

I don't actually cross-dress  and I don't smell  and athough I've got some money now, I haven't bought a pint of Guiness in the Alps yet this season. That'll change in a couple of weeks, and I'll come back a pauper.

Do these skins not make it difficult in the lift queues?
