Well this is why forums like these are so good as everyone always helps out and come up with options you may not have considered! Never give up going skiing, persevere because out there is a holiday for you with just a little bit of tweaking - and the internet is SO useful! Have you also thought of using trains from airports to get you to resort? European train travel is far superior than in the UK - RailEurope is the website to use. Last time I went on a DIY trip to Switzerland, I flew into Berne with Flybe, got the minibus from the airport to the train station and then had a super hour's journey to Frutigen (and then to Adelboden where I was staying - and am doing the same this year) so nice, I did not want the train journey to end. If you can fly into Salzburg there are lots of Austrian resorts within easy reach. Remember public transport is exactly that - to be used by the public! Hope this helps (a bit!)
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!
